Built from a Simple Idea — Made for a Bigger Adventure

From one child’s first boat to a new generation of young skippers.

StarterCraft began in 2015 with a simple goal — to give a child their own boat.

Living on the Queensland coast, the original creator wanted his child to experience the waterways and lifestyle that come with life on the water. But after searching high and low, he found nothing suitable. There were no real, speedboat-style boats designed for kids.

So he did what any determined entrepreneur would do — he built one.

What started as a personal project quickly became something more. After showcasing the boat at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, demand exceeded expectations, with interest from families and operators alike. StarterCraft boats soon became a popular attraction at Plaza Pontoon, where they continue to be enjoyed today.

As the years passed, the moulds changed hands and production slowed — until the story came full circle.

In 2024, while searching for a boat for our granddaughter (a little early, perhaps — but you can never be too prepared), we came across a couple of second-hand StarterCraft boats. That curiosity quickly turned into a mission. After tracking down the original manufacturer, one simple question set everything in motion:

“What are you doing with the moulds?”

Now, we’re proud to continue the StarterCraft story — bringing these kid-sized speedboats back to life for a new generation to experience the water, build confidence, and create memories of their own.
